    A Catch

I’m going to take a moment to be full of myself. This is something I seldom do. But tonight, I feel like it, dammit!

I’m 22 years old and I manage a fucking restaurant. I was promoted to this position having been a server at this establishment for less than a year.

I have a pretty damn good body and a pretty awesome rack.

I’m currently finishing my BA and am fast-tracked to get my MBA within the next 4 years.

I am completely self-sufficient. I make and spend my own money and I finance my own education.

    I have my shit together.

I’m on my way to becoming a certified Sommelier.

I plan to see the world.

    I’m a catch.

I hate being sick. I just hate it. I find it so frustrating. I can’t work at my full potential, I can’t work out which is HORRIBLE, and I just get whiny and crabby.

I’m in the middle of a big workout push doing a combo of P90x and Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30. Josh is doing P90x full on, and I’m focusing mostly on Ripped. However, I like doing chest and arms, yoga x and ab ripper x with him. (Side note, I kick his butt in ab ripper, but he kicks mine in yoga. Go figure.)

When I’m sick and can’t do anything, I get bored. So, I either clean or I bake. Neither are good. I’m baking my germs into some delicious concoction and surely someone else will get sick. And cleaning…well, let’s just say there’s nothing quite like sneezing into an open bottle of Comet or onto a dusty bookshelf. That shit goes everywhere.

Sickness blows. My night includes cough drops, nyquil, tissues and Roman Holiday on DVD. Okay, the last part isn’t so bad I guess. And now my apartment is really clean and the crock pot is prepped for tomorrow.

    One Week Down…Almost

Well, week one is almost over. Should you decide to take your day off (yes, you get a full day off to keep you from going crazy) over the weekend, you may have your weekly weigh in that morning. The reason for this is that if you go a bit crazy on your off day, your body will retain water from the excess fat and grease that you’re no longer used to. Therefore, the morning after your off day is not a solid representation of your weight.

My original plan was to shoot for a weight loss goal of .5% of my starting body weight (103.6 lbs) each week for two weeks, then do a fitness goal for the remaining two. However, I weighed in this morning at 102.4 lbs. This pretty much takes care of a majority of the little bit of excess I needed to cut in order to build muscle. This means the games gets much harder from here on out as I will be switching to my fitness goal a week ahead of schedule. While I always push myself physically, I will be pushing much harder now that I have to provide concrete evidence of my fitness level. Crap.

It’s going to take some figuring as far as what my fitness goal will be. The core part of my workout is Cardio Barre, and I’m not sure how to prove fitness with that one. Perhaps increased flexibility? Who knows. I’m open to suggestions! :)

    100 calories of anything.
Just another one of the many reasons why I love the game.
Every day you are allowed to have 100 calories of anything you want. It can be chocolate (which I did yesterday), smarties, fruit by the foot, marshmallows, anything! Today, I choose to have a chai latte. It’s spicy with just the right kick of sweetness to it. And, it’s actually under my 100 calorie limit. I should point out that these 100 calories are nontransferable. Just because my latte is only 70 calories doesn’t mean I can go find 30 calories of something else. Sure, I’m not using all of my allowance, but that’s okay. I was never a big spender anyway. :)

    And the games begin!

    The game kicks off tomorrow!

The team concept sort of fell apart when several people, who will remain nameless *cough* Steven Brandon *cough* and some other people, but mostly him *cough*, decided that they didn’t have time for the game. This means there is a one-on-one game!

    Liz

    vs.

    Josh

    Personally, I think I will win. :)

This game is actually a sort of a tie breaker for us. We have played twice and each won once. Let’s see what the third game tells us.

    It’s on!

    Game On!

In a few short days, I will be starting back in on the Game On! Diet. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, let me fill you in!

There are so many wonderful things about the game, so I will start with my two personal favorites . This diet can be structured in two ways, for weight loss or for fitness. Being 5’2” and weighing 103 lbs, it’s fairly clear that I don’t have much weight to lose. However, keeping tone can be an issue for me. So when I play the game, I structure it for a fitness goal rather than a weight loss goal. This means instead of promising myself I will lose 2 lbs each week, I promise myself I will swim an extra four laps in the pool or cut that extra 30 seconds off my mile, etc. It keeps me on my toes and consistently pushes me a little bit further each week.

The second thing I love about the game is that you don’t win by losing the most weight or becoming the most fit. You win by earning points for following the habits set up by the game. So, while you may not have lost the most weight, you can still win by fighting the hardest for every pound you lose or every extra lap you swim.

Basically, you earn points the following ways:

    • Eating five small, balanced meals a day
    • Sleeping at least 7 hours and drinking the proper amount of water
    • Exercising the proper amount of time six days a week

There are other ways to earn points, but you’ll just have to follow me for 28 days to hear about them all. :)

The Game On! Diet book goes into extreme, humorous detail about the “rules” and gives a very detailed list of do and don’t foods to help make your meals easier to plan and understand.

Research shows that when trying to lose weight or diet for fitness, people are more likely to reach their goals when they don’t go it alone. And that’s the beauty of the Game! Not only do you have an amazing support system in the friends you choose to play with, you also have the drive and determination to kick their butts! (While shrinking or toning your own, of course!)

So, starting Monday, September 6th, my third Game On! journey begins. Follow the blog to see how it goes!

I have the most amazing friends. They surprised me with my baby sister for an early birthday present.
I’m so blessed. I can’t believe I came to know such amazing people.
I love you all so very much.
And yes, I am crying in this picture. There is video of my reaction somewhere. I’m sure I will post it eventually.

About a week ago, I posted a very angry and hurtful thing here. While there is truth to it, I regret “voicing” my feelings in such a manner. I’m sorry for that, and I have since retracted it.

In other news, some “serious” life changes are about to happen. I’m happy about them.

    The end.

    Feelin’ Good

I’m feeling really safe right now. Earlier in the month, I wasn’t letting myself feel that way even for a second, as I honestly didn’t know how secure I was or would be. But now, as May comes to and end, I can see that things are pretty sturdy from where I’m sitting. This makes me very happy.

Also, sidenote: New headshots yesterday! Will be posting eventually! :)
